The Sustainable Development Advisory Council was inaugurated in 2013. Its establishment was mandated under Article 6 of the Environmental Management Act of 2007. Its core functions are to promote co-operation and co-ordination between organs of state, non- governmental organisations, community based organisations, the private sector and funding agencies, on environmental issues relating to sustainable development.
